"Wade, please don't do this," Peter choked, leaning over his boyfriend, clinging onto Wilson's hand. The mercenary cocked a smirk, lying still in his spot on top of the building rubble.
"Oh, Petey, you knew you couldn't keep me forever," he croaked around the blood that bubbled in his throat.
Peter couldn't catch up with what was happening. He had been standing right beside his boyfriend the entire time, ready and prepared to fight the whole of Sinister Six to the death. But not Wade's death. Not his. So why was this happening? Why couldn't it be Peter lying there, and not Wade? Tears stung at his eyes as he held down a sob.
"But, Wade, you have your whole life ahead of you-"
"Peter, I'm not as young as I look," Deadpool murmured, catching the Spiderman off-guard. The teen stared down at him, confused. Wade smiled; looking so sad it nearly ripped Peter's heart apart. Tears started to sprout at Wilson's eyes as he let out a soft cry. "I've lived for so long, Peter," he whispered, expression distant as he painfully shook his head. "I don't think I could go any further."
"But what about me?" Peter pleaded, tightening his hold on Wade's hand. "You said you wouldn't leave me; you promised!" The teen shook his head. "I don't care how old you are, you can't leave me! You can't die!" Peter became frantic. "Just use your healing factor thing- Heal, Wade, and get better!" Peter trembled. "Please."
Wade shut his eyes. "I can't, Petey," he said softly. "Ever since my scars went away after I got healed, I lost my powers. I can't regenerate anymore."
Spiderman stared down at his boyfriend, feeling his heart beating too fast for him to handle. This couldn't be happening. "But you can't leave me, Wade," he repeated softly.
"But it's too late!" Wade suddenly cried, the tears breaking free and slipping down his cheeks as he opened his eyes to stare at his boyfriend despairingly. "Peter, I'm so sorry."
"No!" Peter screamed, leaning forward and caressing Wade's cheek, squeezing as he felt the sickly cold skin underneath his hand. "Wade, I swear, I'm not letting this happen." The teen's eyes looked hysterical through the tears. He quickly jumped up. "I'll get the Avengers, I'll get my dads, I'll get anyone who can help-"
"Peter!" Wade coughed as he grabbed Spiderman's wrist, holding him back. "Peter, I got stabbed through the chest. I don't think I'm going to be fixed anytime soon."
"Then how are you still able to breathe and talk?" the teen demanded, crouching back next to him while trying not to look at the ragged hole straight through Wilson's chest and ripped Deadpool costume. Wade smiled.
"Well I've been used to getting healed all this time. This hurts like hell, but as long as you're still here, I-"
He suddenly cut off as he started coughing, hacking up blood. Peter let out a terrified whimper, leaning forward and tightening his grasp on Wade's hand. Wilson let out a jagged breath, obviously struggling to breathe. Peter shook his head as they stared at each other in a dead silence. Tears stung at Wade's eyes again.
"Please don't leave me," he whispered, laying his head back into the cement. "I don't want to die alone."
"You're not going to die," Peter sniveled, feeling himself shaking from head to toe. Wade gave his boyfriend a sad, little smile. He reached out with his free hand, struggling to push himself up into a sitting position. He let out a choked cry as he felt blood gurgle in his wound, but he kept going until he was nose to nose with Peter. The teen just stared at him, tears still streaming down his face as he lost the ability to speak. Wade smiled that sad smile again as he leaned forward, pressing their lips gently together.
"I love you, Peter. But you need to let me go. I wasn't meant to live forever. But I still want you to know that I love you."
Words finally returned to Peter's lips as he let out a sob. "Stop it! Stop saying that, Wade. You're not going to die."
Fear suddenly struck onto Wade's face as he pressed their foreheads together. "Peter, please. Just say it- Tell me you love me, please." He trembled as he lifted his hand to caress his boyfriend's cheek.
Peter felt a bulge in his throat, but he spoke around it. "I love you, Wade."
Wade smiled, tears still slipping down his face as he leaned forward once more, kissing his boyfriend softly before leaning into him while the teen hugged him. "I love you," he whispered in Peter's ear, pressing his cheek against the teen's shoulder while shutting his eyes. "I love you, Peter Parker."
Wade slowly went limp in Peter's arms.
